Dr. Jerry Gentry

With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Jerry Gentry is a seasoned interventional pain management physician who blends clinical expertise with whole-person care. As Medical Director and affiliated provider at Vanguard Spine & Sport, he brings a compassionate and integrative approach to pain relief, addressing the mind, body, and spirit to support long-term healing and quality of life.

Dr. Gentry earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, graduating Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi, where he also joined the United States Navy. He went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and completed a general surgery internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Gentry served as a Naval Officer for 12 years, delivering emergency and primary care services in leadership roles across several naval hospitals. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, earning three Naval Achievement Medals for exemplary service. In private practice, he has spent decades providing interventional pain management care to a wide range of patients throughout Texas. He also served as a ringside physician for professional boxing and MMA events for over 17 years, blending acute injury care with long-term rehabilitation.

Dr. Gentry specializes in interventional pain management with a focus on minimally invasive procedures and personalized care. His philosophy is rooted in treating pain through a holistic lens, integrating physical, emotional, and mental health strategies. He is known for his empathetic bedside manner and his ability to connect deeply with patients across all walks of life.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Gentry is a passionate health and fitness advocate. He’s a male physique competitor, enjoys power flow yoga, and loves dancing. He is also a proud father to three children—Madison, Jerrod, and MaKenna—and brings the same dedication to family and balance into his practice.
